I would hope that it is not sour. I am only trying to prevent disinformation. It is unfair to pigeon hole people based on locale. I think a lot of the issues here stem from differences in culture. Most apply their own upbringing as the standard for which is considered appropriate. If we are more open-minded about others view, we will often find the intent is good. I, like many, am guilty of letting my own perspective cloud my judgment. We are all guilty of it to some degree. It is the very reason wars are started. Divorce rates - How do we compare - Accurate stats on this would be tough to get because of who would answer honestly that they were swinging before getting divorced - but you could probably get close and our bet would be that its pretty close to 50/50??
Having said that, I guess we're going to skew the stats negatively towards the swingers since we plan on getting divorced as soon as all the kids are grown. We dont believe that marriage is needed to prove ones love and commitment for each other. We we're successful at this for the first 7 years, and 2 kids; (bastards - lol) of our relationship. But back in the day before GLBT(P) started fighting for equal rights, insurance companies wouldn't cover "straight" partners either, so we got married to get coverage, among some of the other rights that might pertain to our children.
We have no problem with others getting married to extend their love for one another and we celebrate it. However, we absolutely detest governments using marriage as a tool to control the masses and their choice of romantic endeavors with each other - the rights that straight couples also loose from this should have many more people up in arms about it!
This is one of the problems that has aided in the distortion of what love, marriage and true friendship really is which in turn causes more divorce... and people that CANT HANDLE SWINGING.
Why so much hate in the swingers world... - - Maybe the issue is that there are single men that do try "cold calling". Since the odds of them hitting a "single guy friendly" couple are not as good as hitting a couple that looks for couples only, they will tend to irritate that couple. Now, understand that we already are not interested in you. On top of that you bother us with your solicitations. Kinda of an "adding insult to injury" thing.

How has swinging made your marriage better? - - Communication (REAL communication) is the key but still it's not enough if someone really wants to stray or outright leave. There's been an interesting discussion on another swing site we're on about some of this topic and an old timer on there (who's now divorced) brought up something that we found interesting and that seems to be fairly ubiquitous in the lifestyle. It turns out that most women who have been in the lifestyle for a decent length of time have at one time or another (multiple times for Ms. Evil and some of the ladies we've known for some time) been told by a play partner (more often by a single male or even more often a vanilla guy...lot's of swingers seem to get a thrill out of vanilla hunting I guess) that if they were THEIR partner they would NEVER share them with another man. Think about that for a minute. With the way most women are raised and the messages society pounds into their heads about love, romance, fidelity, etc., how powerful are those words are. In fact let's take a little poll. Are there any women who've been in the lifestyle for, say, at least 5 years and play fairly frequently who have never had a guy tell them or insinuate that? Just curious.
