STDs in the lifestyle - telling people they're no big deal - Hate to say it people, but if you are scared of STD's, this is probably the worst type of hobby, ativity you can have. Condoms or not the chance of contracting something still exists. Condoms break and the other juices flying around can circumvent a condom or other forms of protection. Especially HPV which is pretty common in sexually active people. It's not life-threatening but can be for women with the increased incidence of cervical cancer. It's like a lot of the other types of non life-threatening diseases, even if they aren't, who the hell wants to deal with something that you don't have to begin with? I mean even if there are treatments available, I'd rather not have to deal with something I contracted for the mere "Want" to fuck other people. See what I'm getting at? Like ThoughtGarden said, "abstinence" is the only way you can guarantee safety. So, again if you are worried, you might want to find another hobby, or just be extra safe and have a great time. It's what we've done and haven't had any problems so far. It's that one time though that could change a lot of peoples opinion on the lifestyle and safety. I do remember reading something that stated swingers for the most part are married, and believe it or not have an incredibly low rate of STD's because they keep the swinging on the inside with other safe, married couples. So, Single guys, sorry you are carriers of many bugs! LOL. Kidding. Screen them too and ask lots of questions. I think we can all have a great time. Find some great couples who you trust and swap until your hearts content.... That's all I got to say about that.. UtHot

ksl - did you watch?? - I honestly don't think there should be too much concern that anyone is going to start 'searching' the internet to find out if they know anyone on sites like these. They are already 'disgusted' as it is and i'm sure they won't chance having a site like this 'appear' on their computer. I honestly think they made their opinions and judgements briefly as they watch the segment last night but it wasn't something that was powerful enough to cause much of a stir. After checking my access logs for the site as well as my placement ads on the search engines designed just for the state of Utah when someone does a search on the keyword 'swingers,' there was not even a substantial jump in numbers. There was actually less people who searched for that keyword as well as 'utah swingers' than any normal monday night or tuesday morning. I honestly believe most people have already forgotten about it. But for those of you who want to take that extra precaution, it's totally understandable. I just don't think it's that big of a deal to anyone like we thought and if it is, not enough to get them to start searching the internet for it. Rob

Alternate Semi Swinging Site? - FInding the right connections -
Do any of you know of alternative sites for partial swingers. We have struggled to find couples who like to enjoy their own partner while allowing the ladies to play. It seems, here, that it offends when I, the lady, don’t share my guy. It works for us, but oddly is offsetting to many others. For me, if a woman doesn’t want to share her man but wants to play girl on girl…I’m perfectly happy with that. It’s her man, her limits. I’ve been told that means not everyone gets to play? I don’t understand that since everyone is playing. It’s a partial swap. Please let me know if you know of somewhere to find that.
There are plenty of people here who are fine with that particular scenario and more than a few who are also looking, specifically, for that type of play. No need to go elsewhere. The trick is to find couples that won't try to punk you and get you to do a full swap after leading you to believe they are okay with your rules. Also, there are quite a few women that aren't really bi or are only bi up to a point. It could be partly due to the fact that you're in Cedar. Additionally, we've noticed that your particular play preference is more common among younger couples so that could be making your search difficult as well. And one last problem (I know, right?), swingsites are slowly dying and more and more people are using alternative methods to find people to hook up with. You missed the heyday for lifestyle sites by about 10 or 15 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Edit: Oops, my bad. Didn't read carefully enough, Just saw "Cedar" and assumed Cedar City.

Mormons - - Wow....this topic is a strange one to have on a swingers site, but I guess people are curious about Mormons in the lifestyle. We are LDS, and active at that, although we have never been through the temples, and we do not wear garments because we are not ready to meet the requirements (we could lie and get in, but that to us seems like a bigger sin) Now...the question how to we reconcile what we do with what we believe? Well the answer is simple. We all know when we feel guilty about something, and usually if we feel guilty we need to reconcile ourselves or something in our life. Then perhaps there is something that we need to repent for. We (my spouse and I) don

MSNBC Article on Swingers - actually a positive one :) - We are members of this club.We have been for about three years now. Tabu is a great place to go and meet people or just have fun. There have been many times we (hubby & I) have went to only have sex with each other. For someone who knows nothing about our lifestyle to go on Blackout night that says a lot about them. There are many themed parties every weekend!! I would encourge any and all who live in this area or visit add Tabu to your to do list!!! Fun will be had by all!! P&J

I'd like some advice.....really, I'm serious. - - We've always gotten a chuckle while running into co-workers on this site, or we discover they are swingers. This has happened quite often, and it's remarkable what a fun common interest it is to have with someone with whom you've only had a working relationship. As for the play part, we rarely if ever approach or intimate that we'd like to play with them, and let them approach us. Swingers should not be embarrased about being in the lifestyle, and if they are...one must quetsion "why"? This is also assuming that if they prefer discretion, those with whom they associate will not let the proverbial cat out of the bag. Even though they may not be seeking single males, why can't you still maintain a friendly relationship with them; undoubtedly the chances of running into them at meet n greets, or house parties exists. You never know, they may get a good chuckle as well. Just be polite, and not approaching like the cliche, stereotyped single male expecting sexual favors from them. Good luck! ~J~

Elusive FMF - Your thoughts? - Hello All! Forgive the long post - but I simply wanted to respond to what VP stated SO well. Posted by VP: Here's a question: Is it that a single swinging female is all that elusive, or is it just more likely that a woman who's secure enough in who she is to have a liberated lifestyle is probably more likely to have a boyfriend / husband? Thus making it a simple fact of life and society that the whole concept of a liberated single female is for the most part a myth or at best a temporary state. Guys are programmed to be tomcats. There comes a time when "every boy must become a man". But little girls are taught that "sex is something only for your husband". Society accepts single males prowling about generally - that's why when a single guy get shat upon in a swingers site, the resultant wailing bears striking resemblance to a chorus of whining mules. They don't get it: "They don't like me? Why? I'm hot..." Now if a woman were to go out there looking for it, then she's branded a home-wrecker, "slut", "whore", or worse. Tell me you'd sign up for that cruise? IMHO: I think when a couple starts kvetching about the lack of single females, they might do well to have a look at why it is that they want just a woman and not her S/O. Chances are, deep down those same paradigms that are causing the lack of single females are deeply rooted in their own attitudes. ---------- From the "not so elusive" Te: From my perspective I would have to agree with these statements wholeheartedly. I

We love the autumn sky - - Cool post, Delicious. And OMG, I can't believe I'm going to say this. You're older. I'd never point that out if I wasn't older too. But yeah ... we've definitely evolved to where I'd call us "mellow" swingers. I'm really not looking to bop around to some head-banger music hoping to bump into just the right couple for a crazy romp in the corner behind a large speaker. Been there. Done that. Hurts my freaking ears. Went up yesterday with my husband and one buddy on bikes. Ended up in a long, drawn-out threesome on a small pad and blanket (and 32 freaking rocks, all seemingly right underneath MY ass!). In the chill of the mountains, the nipple-rising small breeze floating across us. More our style anymore. I don't think that it makes it one bit less exciting or lively. And yes, I will make it with my husband out on the deck, under the stars. Just us. And just as nice. You sound like you are in a wonderful place. It doesn't take 84 people, music at rock-level-volume, flashing lights, four gallons of alcohol, three turtle doves, two french hens.... err .... ah ..... yeah, it doesn't take all that stuff to create a great sexual experience. Have at it, sexy people!

How Biased Utah Swingers are towards younger single dudes - I'm just here exploring my sexuality like all of you. - Never have seen you on booty call looking, like a lot of the other single guys do so you haven't stuck out. To be honest this is the 1st time seen your name since I log in ever day to see who's new to the website. Than there is the com-bat-able issue that come to mind. When searching for single male we look and its hard to find one who want to be more than a 1 night stand. Or we find one and they play head game when it comes to a meet -n- Greet. So you may not be looking at the right profile and or your being too picky about how people look, or who your wanting to hook up with. An to be fair since you're single you have nothing to share. Plus if you look at the list of single male that us couple who look for a 2nd dick to help out in DVP or other activity there is a long list. Just my2cents

Important ! Please read this post. - -
You know, I read the sign on my way in here that said "Don't feed the trolls!", but I'm bored and this looks like a fun way to kill a few minutes. So, let's get started shall we?
Ahhhhhhhhhhh another guy who THINKS he knows something, but later on proves that he doesn't....
We all participate in risky behavior, huh? I suppose that depends on your definition of "risky". If you really want to be pedantic, every time you draw breath you're taking a risk. You take an even bigger risk should you choose to not draw breath.
I am sorry, thought this was a swinger site... I guess you have a study that's not from the 1990's that shows that over 50% of people engage in swinging, right? Nope, you don't, therefore we engage in risky behavior!
Typically when one uses the term "risky behavior" they're implicitly saying "behavior that is risky beyond the risk of normal behavior". Having sex with your spouse, regardless of whether they're cheating or not, is not risky behavior.
Regardless if they're cheating? Really? What, praytell, are you doing here, I guess you've solved the world's STD's crisis, right? Found a shot that cures herpes and HIV? Then how is it NOT risky if they are cheating?
Uhm... Did I miss something? What exactly are you saying "BULLSHIT!" to? It seems fairly clear that you're both stating the same sentiment.. are you calling bullshit on the fact that he bothered replying?
AHHHHHHH....Failed reading comprehension, did we? Let's have a look at what they said... What you UNDERLINED is the key.... WITHOUT complete absinence............ Without abstinence, you're engaging in risky behavior! Now, one could say, 'I use condoms, dental damns, and ALWAYS practice safe sex!' Is that enough? Let's see, ever been with a squirter? Ever had a woman get so worked up that her juices are squishing around on your balls? I guess that's not enough to catch something, right? Dr. Darcone, me thinks you need to rethink your ideas.
Are you actively going about doing cultures of these things, just looking for a place disease can be communicated from?
I don't have to, I pay taxes so I don't.
I don't know about the rest of you, but if there's a wet towel at the gym, and it's not mine, I'm not touching it. Soap Dishes? You know, I've always wondered at the point of anti-microbial soap..
Have you ever heard the saying, 'It is better to remain silent and thought of as a fool than to open your mouth to remove all doubt?' This would apply for you. Wet towels look like dry ones, yours is next to theirs, and you've NEVER accidentally grabbed someone else's? A little nick on your hand, BINGO! Anti-Microbial soap ONLY works if left in place for 30 seconds or more. Now, you place your soap on the tray, anyplace that the soap touches, in 30 seconds, would be 99.9% free of microbes, HOWEVER, anywhere it doesn't touch isn't. But you wouldn't touch the soap tray with your fingers, then touch your eyes, nose or mouth, right?
And before you knock wikipedia, it's been verified to be more accurate than any other available encyclopedia. So, while influenza and bronchitis may be transmitted sexually, they aren't STI's. If you get herpaghonasyphaclap from kissing some random corpse, then it is not sexually transmitted by definition. By the same token, an oral infection of HSV-1 is -not- an STI. It becomes an STI once it infects the sacral ganglia. Also worth noting is that neither the CDC nor WHO acknowledge HSV-1 as being an STI.
Chlamydia is the most common form of STD, it IS passed from casual and accidental contact, Herpes IS an STD, it also is passed from incidental contact. So, your entire premise if wrong.
For the actual statistics on extramarital affairs, see: This Study published by Oxford (22-25% of men, 11-15% of women). (fwiw, that article is a fantastic meta-analysis of a broad range of studies)
Actually from a Colorado college, not Oxford. Oxford may be where you found it, but your reading comprehension is, once again, coming into question. The first sentence of your report states its from Colorado. The last time I checked, Oxford is not in Colorado. Additionally, the study is from over 10 years ago, nothing has changed since then, right? The internet hasn't become more prevalent? Easy access to willing sex partners hasn't added to the instances of EMI? Nah, nothing to see here. Perhaps one should look at a more priminent site for these things? Perhaps one should look at the sample size to determine statistical significance? Perhaps one should see who was 'randomly' selected to participate?
Jim, do you actually have a point you're trying to espouse here? Are you just trying to say that sex isn't safe? I'm pretty sure we were all aware of that fact.
As a matter of fact I do, that point is: GROW THE FUCK UP! We're all taking risks, don't cry about the results of your risk taking. Would you allow someone who suddenly decided to try skydiving, had no training, packed their own chute, then jumped and was injured to complain about how they were injured? Of course not, but since it is someone who was TOTALLY aware of the risks involved and they're participating in KNOWN risky behavior its OK because you're participating in it also?
Or are you trying to say "Who needs protection? Sex is dangerous no matter what!"? If that's what you're trying to say, you have much to learn on the difference between risk and certainty.
Not at all.... I am saying, we're all aware of the risks, we don't need to read their alligator tears because they rolled the dice and came up snake eyes.
There are a plethora of things one can do to reduce the risk of contracting -any- STI. There's no certainty that you'll ever be completely safe from contracting one. There's also no certainty that you'll ever contract one.
For once, we can agree on something.
One strong way you can reduce those risks is by clearly communicating what infections you're at risk of spreading. That's the purpose of this thread, and along with most everyone else, I'd like to thank the ABC's for their post.
Showing up at a swingers' party, club, or site is pretty clearly communicating that we're at risk of ANY sexually transmitted desease.
