Christain Swingers? - - I think overall Religion has a poor track record when it comes to morallity. That is one of the reasons there are so many divisions in christianity. Often,when someone wants to justify their veiw on an issue they use religious interpitation to back it, some have even started new religions or branches of their previos religion to accomidate their position. Wars have been fought , people persecuted, tortured and put to death in the name of religion, and it still occurs on this very day.
I remember a statement, said to be made by Jesus Christ: "He who has not sinned cast the first stone". I think the person about to be stoned was accused of adultry. One of his close followers and friends was a prostitute. He went to the temple to tell the holier than thou, they were missing the point, and if I recall he was said to have given his sermons in the streets, and roads to anyone who wanted to listen.
Karl Marx (I do not believe in Communism) refered to religion as the "opium of the people". I think he may have been on to something. I had 12yrs of religious study in Catholic grade & high school and I think rather than brain washing me it opened my eyes up to the contradictions in religion. I think you have to step away from religion to be really objective, when looking at the morality of any issue. I feel a persons faith and beliefs are a personal and individual thing. Organized religion can often pollute your judgement, if you let it. If you can step away from it and look objectively at your choices in life, you may also find there is still room for you to step back in, and find a place for yourself in its boundries, also.
I think like COTA has experienced, religion has let a lot of us down in one way or another. It is up to each of us to make up our own minds, when it comes to matters of faith and morality. Personally I don't think religion should cast stones.

Small Towns - - Meh. We say keep it hidden. Ms. Evil and I think it's much more fun that we have a dirty little secret that our neighbors would likely soil their garments if they knew. Most are extremely jealous (a few have even admitted it) when they see us sitting on our porch Sunday mornings in clothing they are encouraged not to wear, sipping our mochas while they drive by on their way to 3 hours of sheer boredom and oppressive indoctrination. It would just be too annoying if EVERYBODY swung (swang? swingded?...need coffee NOW!). I honestly think some of the most insufferable Mormons I know would be just as insufferable if they were swingers as well. Are you going to be a "one trick pony" then? To us, if all you have are "Dumb Nigger" jokes or "Dumb Pollock" or "Dumb Chink" etc, etc, it gets boring. Swinging/Polyamory - I just wanted to hear other people thoughs on this....... - That would be a general definition. However, sometimes the devil is in the details. With that definition, poly couples would be termed in the same group as swingers under the banner of libertine. So would soft swingers, etc, etc. We feel the definitions are kinda important because it causes awkwardness and waste of time if we don't know what we are getting into. For instance, if we talk and you are soft swingers, we now know we won't get anywhere fast because we are not into soft swinging. You, OTOH, will not have the awkward moment where we get together and at the last minute, we do something you don't like. IMO the labels help us filter out what we want from what we don't want.
