Moving - - Justin- You might want to look deeper into what Utah is all about before you dive in. Just because you can see a few hundred swingers that appear to be cool, doesn't mean that the other 2.2 million Utahns are so accepting and fun. Living in Utah has some very good benefits (aside from the abundance of swingers)- these include the mountains, the desert, the skiing/snowboarding, hiking, biking, boating, camping, etc. pretty much whatever you want to do here, it is available. We have four distinct seasons, which are nice, if you like hotter than hell summers and super cold winters. The negative side to living in Utah is a little more hidden, and harder to explain. Simply put, if you don't fit in to the predominant culture (conservative, religious, Caucasian) you might not be happy here. Not that there aren't liberal, non-religious, non-white people here, but many locals look down on anyone who is 'different.' Also with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, and with less jobs available than most places, it might be difficult to find work in Utah. This leads me into my second point. 2. There is a certain lack of respect on the side of the single guy. I recently went to a swing club and you could always tell the difference between the single guys that were in the lifestyle for real and the ones that were just there for a good lay. That disturbs me greatly when I see it. Most single guys don't get what it's all about and they come off with this smug, arrogant, vibrato as if to say "Sure dude, I'll fuck your wife/girlfriend since you can't please her. You're just not enough man for here. Let me show you how it's done!" Oh give me a break! Now there are some guys out there that get it and if they had a significant other he'd be in the lifestyle with her. True some guys are just losers but I think that we can all agree that this lifestyle is not for everyone and finding that partner or special someone to enjoy it with you can be a little difficult. Just like it's difficult sometimes find people that are already in the lifestyle to meet for a fun evening. So, I'll end this with saying that couples that are leary of single guys have every right to be. However, I don't think you should lump them all together and just write them off. It's a case by case bases.;)

Is it a “preference” or is it “ discrimination” - - Discrimination can be against non-physical attributes as well (Political and religious are the two most obvious nowadays.) But I would call almost everything else a preference, at least as far as swinging is concerned. One of the biggest hurdles we found when we first entered the lifestyle was people who were upset that, for whatever reason, we didn't want to fuck them. Their mindset was, "We're swingers and you're swingers so what's the problem? Let's fuck!" We did, eventually, come to the realization that in some instances our first impression, based on looks or whatever, could be overcome, in time, by getting to know people better and eventually finding a different kind of attractiveness that trumped simple physical attraction.
