Swingers Next Door! - ABC news story on Swinging! - There is a REAL reality show about swingers! Or as close as you can get. Completely unscripted, completely real! They only ask to restart a scene if they missed audio or need additional video (they are trying to tell a story, so it only makes sense that they do this)... The show represents the lifestyle in a sexy and accurate way. We've participated in the show two different seasons (on 5 episodes total) and will continue to do so as long as they let us. They do it with integrity and we are both incredibly proud to say that we are a part of such a great show. It's on Playboy TV, it's called SWING! Nothing like the drama filled, scripted, and utterly unrealistic show on A&E. We highly recommend checking it out! It depends on the man, of course. Some men do value personality over body type and some definitely value body type over personality. It's the same for women too. In fact, on average, we've met more women who are extremely picky about body type, etc. than men. And body type isn't the only thing that can be a deal breaker for people. Age is also a line in the sand for many swingers. For others, things like smoking or drug use can be big factors in choosing play partners. And there are MANY quite minor factors that people use to weed out people they may not want to play with.
I think it's probably because swinging is more or less a fantasy activity and people are looking for a certain type that hits most or at least some of their checkmarks for a fantasy partner.Those may be body type, hair color, ethnicity, age, or one of many other criteria.
The really interesting part, to me, is how people are often FAR more forgiving of certain physical characteristics in their own partner than they are in someone they want to have sex with. Yet they often get upset when other people also have that same attitude.
I do think, though, that people kind of get in their own way a little bit and in their search for the perfect swing playmate often overlook someone who is on many levels a good or even great match but not a perfect one. I think they're probably missing out on a lot of fun and a lot of good sex.
Inconsiderate - Lack of consideration for others - Then perhaps you should edit your post, MAUI, to say that "the vast majority of people in the lifestyle THAT WE'VE ENCOUNTERED IN THE EXTREMELY SMALL GROUP OF SWINGERS ON MAUI are super shallow and don't give a crap about others". Maybe it's just Hawaiian people in general who are super shallow and don't give a crap about others. Or maybe just people on Maui. I'm really sorry your swinging experiences haven't met your expectations. And believe it or not I'm not trying to rip you a new one. I genuinely feel badly for you. Have you explored other options? Travel, obviously. How about other swing websites? Swingular is big here in Utah (it was started here) but there are few members almost everywhere else except Florida. And the part about Maui being family oriented...have ya HEARD about Utah? LOL A very wise swinging couple once told US that the way to be successful in swinging is to first get rid of you expectations (so you won't be disappointed) and then to approach each situation and couple looking FOR reasons to connect and play rather than looking for reasons not to. I'm not saying play with peeps you aren't attracted to or are not compatible with but far too often it seems swingers look for reasons WHY this or that couple isn't perfect and they end up being disappointed that they can't find anyone to play with. Try some different websites. Host some meet n greets. Hell, host a house party and invite people similar to yourselves. Just a few thoughts. Good luck.

Not too many surprises, but it is always interesting to me when there are couples who are still active believers. There were 10 responses who said they are still active and 39 who still believe but aren't active.
This was a lot of fun for me, so perhaps I'll revise this and do it again in a few months. Feel free to send suggestions and interesting questions.
There are a few things I would change if we were to do it again. For example, it would be nice to define what "sex" means or even what "porn" means. Also making all questions individual (not as couples) because some questions don't make sense as a couple.

How did you start the lifestyle? - - I started in college ... with a swinger couple who generously invited me into their relationship. It went off and on over the period of about a year.
