It depends on the man, of course. Some men do value personality over body type and some definitely value body type over personality. It's the same for women too. In fact, on average, we've met more women who are extremely picky about body type, etc. than men. And body type isn't the only thing that can be a deal breaker for people. Age is also a line in the sand for many swingers. For others, things like smoking or drug use can be big factors in choosing play partners. And there are MANY quite minor factors that people use to weed out people they may not want to play with.
I think it's probably because swinging is more or less a fantasy activity and people are looking for a certain type that hits most or at least some of their checkmarks for a fantasy partner.Those may be body type, hair color, ethnicity, age, or one of many other criteria.
The really interesting part, to me, is how people are often FAR more forgiving of certain physical characteristics in their own partner than they are in someone they want to have sex with. Yet they often get upset when other people also have that same attitude.
I do think, though, that people kind of get in their own way a little bit and in their search for the perfect swing playmate often overlook someone who is on many levels a good or even great match but not a perfect one. I think they're probably missing out on a lot of fun and a lot of good sex.

Speed dating swinging style - - So the reason we (KOIGIRL) and I hosted it was we were tired of the meet and greets where everyone had their cliques. Also the parties we went to were not swinger parties. Everyone stood around until someone got drunk and then there was drama. Not all parties are like this, but the one's we went to were. So we decided to hold the party.
First, we held it at my place. Second, we screened those who attended. there were young couples and vet swingers. We limited it to 10 couples invited (8 showed). We did have some drinks and refreshments, but once everyone got there people drew a number 1-4. There were two of each number. Based on the number you paired off with the couple with the same number. A timer was set for 20 minutes. Everyone went someplace quiet and just talked. When the timer went off, one group rotated. So those that had 4 went to 1 and so on. After a little over an hour, we went into the family room and had a few drinks and were talking about doing a second round. However, this didn't happen as truth or dare started. Almost everyone was naked. There was a new couple who was shy but even they opened up. If anyone was uncomfortable, there were other rooms. It was made clear that no unwanted advances would be tolerated. There weren't instances of this. People started breaking off and going into separate rooms for fun. A question for singles..... - and please be honest. - After reading some of the comments... It begs the question aren't the singles on here advertising the fact that they are or want to be swingers? Looking for partners to explore the swinging experience? Or are they just people who are looking to get free sex? I'm not saying that any of it is wrong but singles used to date then have sex and then get involved with others. I'm not sure when the swinger sites became dating sites for sex starved singles. Not saying it's bad or good just asking.
Age quesiton - Do swingers of the same age group swing together? - Age is not a factor for us! With her 34 and me 51 can be close to one but not both. If people are nice and want to have fun we say why not!

"Time Enough for Love" and another is "Stranger in A Strange Land" both by Robert A. Heinlein Not exactly about swinging but more about the lifestyle of either Polyamourous or Swingers in a fashion....The Ethical slut is kind of the grandfather of swinging handbooks and how to pull it off.. The other two are quite good about polyandrous/polygamous/polygynous relationships.. Could be fun to discuss, particularly the merrits and or negatives as it relates to the book/s and how it might relate to relationships in today's world, i.e., swinging...
