What is it to being a swinger couple - Is it always this way - From an outsider's perspective, this is one of the most obvious cons to me about being married swingers; you still have to deal w/ the annoyances of dating. Like Harry says in 'When Harry Met Sally', "I got married so I didn't have to date anymore!" You're happy to get laid, but it wasn't only about getting laid; it was about connecting to other people and for whatever reason they didn't want to maintain the connection. I think that's why there are so many small group outings posted about on here; those couples have found they're happiest when they develop a like-minded connection and hope sex will be another activity they partake w/ those to whom they're connected.
Of course, I could be totally wrong and there will be no shortage of married swingers who tell me so along in a few minutes.
Are we really as judgmental as vanilla people? - - Yes, many in the lifestyle are as judgmental as those outside. I am 15 pounds overweight but to some I am as broad as a battleship. What's more, after 34 years of marriage, 24 of which were in the lifestyle, my wife died. All of a sudden I was persona non grata at the club we attended because single males were not allowed. I had not changed, only my marital status. I have been pilloried and shunned because of being lumped with the FEW young single guys who don't have a clue. Now I have 3 strikes: I'm old, I'm slightly overweight, and single. I've learned these last 9 years that swingers can be just as cruel, predjudiced and uncaring as other people. What keeps me going is all those swingers who truely accept me as I am.:z

[/quote]I could use that line to describe many married couples. I don't just randomly pair up with someone to have sex with or to meet other couples with. I care about my partners, and their well-being. We have a relationship, we communicate before we meet others, we use protection, and are respectful of feelings. We spend holidays together, do family things, and yes I call them friend, but we share more than just sex. I would never characterize them as friends of convenience.

Swingers clubs are the new singles hangout? - - Actually I am referring to clubs like Ranch4Play in Eustis and the Playground in Samsula. I have also heard that the ponderosa has seen a small increase in the numbers of single men and women who are not necessarily interested in the lifestyle but are looking for that special someone to share their life with.

And FLAPLAYA... don't say it will be a bad hurricane season, we are moving to NC in a month :-( Lived on the coast in Naples, FL for 20 years and was pretty damn lucky. Didn't Meet Expectation - newbies - As children we are taught a set of rules to live by. I was not taught and I doubt that most of us were not taught to be swingers. In fact I would guess that most of us were taught that such activities were wrong and immoral and that imprinting does not change easily.

Disabled Swingers - - The opportunity for me to play with someone who has a physical handicap/disability has never presented itself.
