The lifestyle: A single mans perspective - - Well said, brother...This lifestyle is what you make of it, and some make more than others. While we are all grownups on this site (obviously, you have to be 18 or over to sign on), you'd think there would be less of a high-school mentatlity than in, say....high school? yet, we get some of the DORKIEST , misspelled emails I've ever seen. Couple that with the responses we've gotten to some posts (like the one critisizing us for getting our vip status), and we wonder how some have remembered to breathe long enough to pass high school. So, here are some very basic tips on enjoying this lifestyle: (not that I'm an expert, but obviously some need etiquette lessons) 1) The first email / chat with someone, DON"T ask idiotic questions. And don't get TOO personal. Remember, this is like dating. If a woman at a bar showed some interest, would the next thing out of your mouth be 'What size is your bra?', or 'Do you like it in the ass?'. it's no wonder some of you are in this lifestyle, you'd never get laid otherwise. 2) Keep SOCIAL meetings SOCIAL. No one cares how long you've been a proctologist, or how much money your kids have stole from you. That's YOUR business. Polite conversation is one thing, but there's nothing worse than hearing a 3 hour lecture on YOUR life experiences, followed by 'So, would you guys like to play with us?' Yeah, as if 3) There ARE other things besides sex to chat about. In person or on the computer. That's right, SWINGERS HAVE BRAINS. and we're very able to carry on converstaion (well, some of us anyway) We were at a party once, and my other half said 'I've heard sex mentioned until I'm not turned on at the thought anymore' ...it happens, just a tip 4) Unless you're planning a very long trip, or own your own private jet, don't add someone to your friend's list here OR on yahoo that lives 3,000 miles away. Let's face it, we'll never meet. Hell, we'll probably never even talk. so what's the point? Air sex? gimme a break. 5) And probably the most important. From the first meeting, to every visit you have (if someone's lucky enough to invite you back, RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE!. Just because we have a wild orgy at the pool of a local motel with wild monkeys and lots of cool whip, it DOES NOT MEAN TO GROPE US EVERYTIME YOU SEE US. We're in couples for a reason, to be in a couple. And just because we're turned on by you, or have sex, doesn't mean you own our bodies afterward. That's what your spouse/gf/bf is for. And most of us aren't here for love. NEWSFLASH...WE'RE HERE FOR SEX! These are just off the top of my head, after recieving some horrible emails, and experiencing some terrible meetings. Oh, yeah, and in response to the post, most single guys DO get a hard time in the lifestyle. But good, they should. This is about the couples, single guys are VERY easy to come by. Only 12 couples within 100 miles on our search - Just using the search criterion of :non smoking, slim or athletic, 35-55, couples, soft swap yes, st - Well it is nice to get some intelligent on topic responses. Yes my original intent was unclear. I wanted to ask about the search function as so many times it seemed like I must be doing something wrong. I was frustrated at how you have to reenter all the parameters each time. And some of the parameters are different in search compared to what you can select in the profiles??? For instance in Soft swap in the profile you can respond with a yes, no, or maybe. Also how do you sort by excluding a yes in some parameter.? After playing with this feature I also noticed that some searches would get 2 pages of results and then I would go back and think I only changed one thing and get 20++ pages. The fact that I could NOT save the searches and be sure I just changed one parameter even though I thought I did was a pain as well. In all this I started to see some interesting trends that I was going to report on but by that time the thread had been hijacked. Originally I reported my search results for this specific search and the criterion I used solely for help in this matter and being so stupid not to realize that I offended Smokers, bi guys, and folks not average or less. Oh and I forgot folks under 35. I am surprised not all the folks who have been members over 365 days didn't throw stones too. I wont be starting another thread ever is the overall result of this. Whatever my intent was is not important now. I just want to say that we usually search and have met some folks outside of those original parameters and yes personality and many other factors can make the overall experience great. It defeats one of the biggest attractions of Lava, which is once you park your car for the weekend it doesn't move until you go home. I can think of few things less fun than driving 35 minutes on mountain roads after a couple of drinks at the Blue Moon or visiting Lava and being tagged the designated driver. Everyone that parties goes to the Blue Moon as that is where the fun is at in the evening. For those who have never done Lava the main attractions in the summer are tubing the river and the Blue Moon, while the main attractions in the winter are the hot springs and the Blue Moon. There are other things to do and you can mix and match, but we've found that is how our time breaks out when we're not fucking. We visit Lava 5 or 6 times a year, of those maybe two are for LS Events, two for romantic getaways and two for friends and family. Lava is known as a local Idaho and Utah swingers destination and there are many there every weekend. The problem is you need to have your meet ups scheduled before arriving as it's almost impossible to sort the LS from the vanilla on site. Risqué Soiree held an event in Lava last spring that was very fun and well attended, we hope they do it again this year. It was a great event for those new to the LS or anyone wanting to meet friends. Also because it involved both Idaho and Utah there was a lot more interaction than many meet ups where people have a tendency to group up with those they already know. Lava is one of those places you will either fall in love with and visit often, or visit once to say you have been there and done that and never return. But one thing I can promise, and that is if your room is in Pocatello you'll never understand the nuances that make Lava so charming to many. If you want big fancy hotels and everything about your visit orchestrated you would be much better advised to spend your vacation in Vegas as you will not be happy in Lava.
