Anyone out there been to Thad's in San Diego? Review......
We went the Saturday after New Years this past January and we're not impressed. The only reason they went is because we were only in town for one night and meeting up with a couple and apparently, all the other clubs had been open for NYE and decided to stay closed the rest of the weekend. As an aside, we heard that the San Diego clubs only open every other weekend??
Couple of things you should know. First off, Thad's isn't a traditional club, but a converted house (actually belonged to an ex-boxer who was pretty famous. The swimming pool is shaped like a boxing glove). All men must disrobe after entering and can only wear towels. The club does allow single men and on the night we went, there were probably 5-8 single men for every couple. Single men aren't are thing. That being said, we found them mostly to be nice and respectful -- though they would follow us around in packs which was unnerving. There were also, surprisingly, a few single women.
Like many on-premise clubs Thad's is BYOB...but it also is apparently, bring your own mixers too. We didn't know that and ended up using Mountain Dew that had been left over. Ug.
The place itself needs a top to bottom makeover and cleaning. Everything is fairly old, run down, etc. Thank god the lights in the upstairs (couples only) play area were dark because we probably would have run screaming. Some areas, especially the bathrooms, were positively disgusting. My wife also got a yeast infection from the hot tub.
Thankfully the couple who hosted us were fun and good sports otherwise we would have split. We would highly recommend searching out another club if you are in the area.
