Safe Sex - How do you (or don't you) protect yourselves? - We now have the rule that we always use condoms. And we are still shopping around for the best ones that work for hubby. He would prefer not having to use them but not enough that he is going to stop. (Side Note: red condoms can have a BAD visual connotation for some guys)
I admit that when we started out we didn\'t use them the first couple of times we played. We then discovered that the first couple we played with doesn\'t use them at all. They had some of the same arguments I\'ve seen posted here. The fact that STD\'s can be transmitted via oral sex, condoms don\'t feel right, etc. I can see those points. But then we found out that they don\'t get tested at all and he picks up random chicks while traveling (with wife\'s knowledge and permision) I think that is the point that makes me the most uncomfortable. Most of the swingers we have met so far are very aware of STD\'s and take some precautions such as getting tested, condoms, etc. But I have seen the statistics on STD\'s in single sexually active people and it\'s like 1 in 4 and most don\'t know they are infected. So he is playing russian roulette in my opinion. We didn\'t know all this before we played with them.
So I guess the moral of the story is to talk with potential partners and ask questions!! For us newbies, it may be awkward and feel like you are being crass, nosy, or killing the spark, but the other couple should be willing to at least discuss it or maybe they aren\'t right for you!!

The statistics of swinging - Relationship longevity in the lifestyle. - One thing we've noticed (and even had a few close calls with ourselves) is that, once the initial thrill of swinging/swapping wears off a little bit, many people look for the NEXT big thrill...usually separate play. I guess a subset of this issue might be how many swingers who break up do so because they fall in love with someone else in the lifestyle.
One particularly insidious behavior that we've, unfortunately, encountered are men, both single AND married, in the lifestyle who attempt to ply Ms. Evil by saying things like, "If you were mine I would never want to share you.". There are probably a fair number of women (and probably men) who might be susceptable to that type of talk if they're insecure in their primary relationship.
Lifestyle Resorts - Which is best in your opinion? - A lot of good descriptions have been given. I don't want to rehash what has already been said, so I'll stick to a few new ones that I can add. In California, you also have Black's Beach, just below Torry Pines golf course & glider port. It's a nude beach that is physically stressful to access & generally fairly sparse with people. If you like privacy, it can be a great place. Laguna Del Sol in California is probably the single largest nudist resort in the US. Play here is mostly on the down low.
Florida's east coast has several traditional swing clubs that are close to Haulover nude beach. There is also a less traditional place called the Roof Top Resort in Lauderdale. It's a nude property where play is common. It has a pool on the roof & some play rooms as well as many overnight rooms. Deenies Hideaway is a low key on-premise place not too far from there where you can hang out by the pool or the pool table all day & all night. It's low key & frequented by moderately attractive people. It's usually not too packed. Trapeeze is an action packed club that is frequently packed & generally has a fairly pretty crowd. Miami Velvet is more of a dress to the 9's swing club. All of these are on-premise.
The west side of Florida has a large concentration of clubs in Pasco County, which claims to boast the largest per-capita quantity of nudists in the US. Some facilities are laid back hippy type places. Some are very upscale & boast a wide variety of facilities. Some have large live-in communities. None that I know of in this area have an actual beach that you can use. The one that has a fresh water beach also has signs warning of alligators. Some have very active swingers in residence. AZ nudist resorts - - Resort might be a stretch. Shangri La Ranch in New River is more of a trailer park with a pool. Pool is well kept, rent able rooms are available but are dated and just OK, well maybe just a little less than OK. Weekdays the residents are a little bit more mature. On weekends the day pass folks are a little younger. We have never encountered any swingers but enjoy the pool and sun. Usually stay off site and day pass, but you haven't lived until you have seen naked karaoke.
