We feel you handled the situation in " high road" fashion, and certainly gain our respect for having done so. To be there to back your wife up if "no" wasn't accepted, is not only proper, but is in fact the only way swinging can matain any civilized credability.
We also agree that violence is the absolute last option to chose. Going to the host of the party as was stated already is a very good idea.
We have been to several really large parties that were totally open to singles, and only one time was there ever a problem. The hosts were informed, and the violater was asked to leave by a group of the men ( host included), and that was the end of it.
It would be unfortunate if this one incident were to make you swear off all clubs or parties as they can be alot of fun in a totally different way than meeting a couple or a small dinner party can be ( although we certainly could understand you being skeptical about it).

Where to go, what to do. - Non club activities - For our first activity we are going to try to diversify and do two activities on two different days.
1. An evening of something wicked: A delightful Eye-full
It is a burlesque show at a theater. It is at Fort Douglas Post Theater 245 South Fort Douglas Boulevard (Bldg 636, Salt Lake City, UT
It is from 6:00pm to 9:30pm and costs $10 per person at the door. This should still leave you available to get to the mansion party that same night if you were going to that.
If you want to be easily identifiable to other swingers (this isn't an event is open to any one) please tie a purple ribbon around your wrist. If you don't want to be bothered with that we will have our ribbons on and I will be wearing an obvious feather in my hat until the performance starts and I will put it back on after it is over.
For the second event I'm looking into brunch on Sunday so I will keep you posted on that.

If you give it a try, it don't mean you're bi !!!!!! - - judging from some of the negative reaction men get from saying they would at least like to try bi it is not wonder you won't see a lot of men admitting it. The stigma and hostility it brings out in some must really make it hard for some men to even consider it. It is a shame there is a double standard and that folks can't be open minded enough to allow those who want to explore do so without being ostrasized. What open minded people should keep in mind is that the whole lifestyle is about pleasure and having fun. If it is not your cup of tea then I am sure nobody will force you to it.
