Sensitivities - a paradox? - I'm actually just as opinionated in life. The only thing that is different here is that I am surrounded by tons of thin-skinned and/or "conservative" swingers, where as in real life, if you will, I don't associate or surround myself with them.
If I wish to participate in the forum, I am forced to accept everyone's contribution no matter how contradictory to the activities of the website or what some call "the lifestyle". As far as your study of internet ego, I would love to see this paper. Which doctor of psycology/sociology performed it?? What were the controls and in what environment? I would like to say that there are no "short comings" in my life, I just call bullshit when I see it and there is a ton of thin skinned whiners that I've learned to avoid for the sake of the community and my sanity, as I cannot stand having the same repetitive arguments with the same moronic crowd. In fact I would love to see that study of yours, shoot it to me in an email or post it here for all of us.
I have no issues telling someone to fuck off in life either. In fact, I promote standing up for what you believe, regardless of what the mainstream thinks. You can ask anyone who knows me on a personal level that my passions are politics, atheism and libertinism. Hell, ask the Davis County School District how I deal with their religious zealotry, hypocrisy, intolerance of expression and the lack of seperation of church and state in Utah (in the Country for that matter). I do not hide who I am. It is many in this "lifestyle" that hide who they are for fear of persecution...
Don't get me wrong though, I do agree with the theory that some people become someone who they are not, when on the internet. I know a ton of "swingers" that put on an act that they are these huge swingers that love to play couple on couple and when you get them two on two, the truth comes out and their only girl-on-girl because either the man is insecure or the woman is a closet lesbian. Do you mix your vanilla and lifestyle friends? - - We tell anyone who is a late night friend, ie: serious friend, vanilla or not that we have an alternative lifestyle. It has made things so much easier. Our vanilla friends are closer. We make it very clear that we don't have any interest in sex with them for concerns about ruining what is a already a good relationship. I am not talking, work vanillas, they don't need to know. I am talking about people with whom we go dancing or bar hopping. Why lie about who you really are? The whole reason for jumping the hurdle that is the "lifestyle" is to be free with who you really are. Then you are supposed to hide it with people who are supposed to really care about you? Nope.
Because of this, it is really cute when we throw a party or get together. The vanillas spend the whole time excitedly trying to guess who the swingers are. Most of the time it doesn't take much to guess. This reminds me of what got us started on this course. We threw a mostly vanilla roller skating party with some vanilla friends. They invited a whole bunch of people and we invited a whole bunch of people. We invited 3 couples who were swingers who did not know or probably didn't care to hide what they were. Odd pattern. - Why the interest/disinterest? - I'm not surprised to see mentions of homophobia and haste in filling out the profile as possible reasons; I hadn't thought of the male ego being so driven as to ignore disinterest from gay women. Yet that ego can't be reasoned w/ when the interested person's equipment matches the imagined ideal but the original birth certificate does not, even when reproduction is not on the table.

AHARLEYCPL, not only is hate mail unwarranted, I'm personally pleased this discussion, for all its potential thorns, hasn't disintegrated into discriminatory ugliness like it would on some sites where the membership is more mainstream; I think it's b/c swingers already think outside the societal norms when it comes to expressing sexuality and have more of a 'live and let live if no one gets hurt' mentality. To Bi or not to Bi. - - Society has imposed a morality code on most of us at one time or another be it through religion or laws. Lets admit it we are animals and although we may not act that way often, sex is one of the most basic animal instincts. Acting on those urges if you are a swinger means you can have sex with others and not fall into the societal guilt and jealousy others may feel. When we meet new swingers this seems to be one of the most difficult things to overcome.
We do not judge those who are bi no matter whether they are male or female. We are just not into it. She will kiss and fondle breast but its for show not enjoyment. He does mind if men touch because of proximity but he has no desire to be with another man sexually. We do not judge others who do and we have play friends where both male and female are bi and it does not scare us.
One last comment about labels. If someone is bi it does not mean they are gay or homosexual or lesbian unless they choose to be. Everyone should be able to choose their own label for their sexuality and who fucking cares what someone else says.
