Do you cut to the chase? - What's your history - We have noticed, that perhaps people who started swinging young, at the time their lives together were developing, as was their social circle, tend to have more friends that are swingers, that they hang out with on a regular basis. If more of their good friends swing, then hooking up, is perhaps, just part of what happens as they socialize. If their friend's friends are also mostly swingers, then it may accelerate the possibility that they will easily meet new lovers. People who entered into the swing scene later in life, who may have already developed a busy social circle, mostly within the vanilla world, may look at swinging a bit differently. It's not like you want to drop your long time social circle, just because they don't swing. Again, how swinging plays out in one's life is most probably affected by every other aspect of one's life. We started swinging when I was 48 or 49 and Mrs. Delicious was 41 or 42. We lived a very busy life, and were involved in a lot of different activities prior to that time. During the decade plus that we have been swingers, our lives have really only gotten busier. Most of our vanilla friends know we are pretty open minded and liberal. We have been involved in volunteer efforts through schools and other secular sources of community out-reach too. Some of our friends, colleagues and associates know we swing. A few are also swingers. Our vanilla friends are much more numerous than our swinger friends. We enjoy people. Swingers, that can and do easily and tastefully, move about within family, and vanilla society, tend to be a good fit for us when it comes to deeper friendships. Swingers Next Door! - ABC news story on Swinging! - I've heard that the A&E show is just what I thought it'd be, the young & beautiful and tension emanating from the vanilla neighbors. Of the 3 things I expected, so far, apparently, there hasn't been a marriage destroyed by swinging, but I'd be surprised if that doesn't turn out to be part of this "reality" show. But after just 1 episode, it looks like I'm 2 out of 3. I'm sorry, but I really think the show is an attempt, probably successful, to exploit something most people would find edgy and fascinating. I'd love to see a REAL reality show about swingers, but somehow I doubt that will ever happen because it wouldn't fit the "successful TV show" formula well enough. The closest I know of to an honest portrayal of things society thinks are taboo was that "real sex" series. And look how long that lasted. Certainly not long enough to have covered the many things that would have fit into the show's premise. If it was still running now there'd still be lots of things out there for new episodes. My suspicion is that while the title might have been, the actual shows just weren't sensational enough for it to be a long term success. ~ Terry

Swingular Mobile Update - Details about our latest release for phones and tablets and other mobile devices. - This morning, we finally launched the long awaited mobile version of Swingular. In this email, we wanted to give you details about the process and why it has taken us so long to get here. We also want to talk about the features and what you can expect going forward. [b][color=#a80003"]HISTORY[/color][/b] As most of you know, Swingular has been around since 2001. It was started in Florida by me and a partner as Playful Swingers and I was the sole architect and coder. Swingular was custom built from the ground up. After a year or so of tremendous success, we didn't see eye to eye and decided to legally split off into two separate entities, Playful Swingers & Swingular. After many years, Playful Swingers went out of business but Swingular continued to grow. Around 2004 and 2007, I rewrote Swingular and gave it new looks. Over the years, we have changed a few things here and there, but most of the underlying code has remained the same. Well, a lot has changed in the world since 2007 and mobile devices have become a bigger source for accessing websites. In 2007, Swingular was great for it's time and for desktop users. In 2016, not so much. In 2012, we decided we needed to make Swingular mobile. After looking at our competition, we noticed they made their existing sites work with mobile but the experience was horrible. Sometimes you were taken to a non-mobile version so you never knew what you were going to get. That wouldn't be good enough for us so we decided that we were going to build our mobile site from the ground up. As we started working on it, technology was constantly changing. Being perfectionists, we kept restarting the project to adopt these new technologies to the point that we could never finish anything. Then we handed Swingular off to another owner and you know what happened there. After getting Swingular back in our hands late last year, we made it our goal to finally get the mobile version built from the ground up and here we are. [b][color=#a80003"]CHALLENGES[/color][/b] We started building this version of the mobile site back in October of last year. The challenges we faced were that we had to convert our technology stack to work with both the old version of the site as well as the new one. This is what took most of our time and what you probably have noticed the last 6 or so months. Once our technology stack was overhauled, we began designing the user interface. Again, this was a challenge because we wanted to support all devices out there, from iPhones, to Androids to Windows Mobile as well as all the tablets. So we had to make sure that everything looked good not only by device, but by screen size. Being that Swingular is custom built, we didn't want to use popular UI frameworks like Bootstrap so that we didn't look like everything else out there. So we had to design our UI to be unique to us. The most important and final challenge was making sure that the mobile site was safe and secure. We didn't want to release a half baked app just to get it out quickly only to find that we had a huge security hole. Your safety and security is our number one priority. After getting through the bulk of issues, we felt it was finally time to release our first beta version of the site with features that would showcase this new look. [b][color=#a80003"]FEATURES[/color][/b] To get a mobile site out in a timely fashion, we decided to use an agile development process which basically means we would create a basic working website, release it, then continually add features as we went along. We sent out a survey to our members to ask what they felt was most important in a mobile site and we took that to decide what was necessary to release our first version. Since we already have a website that is somewhat usable for everybody, we decided based on your feedback that sending and receiving messages, as well as viewing profiles and photos would be the first features to release. Then every two weeks, we would release 1 or more new features. [b][color=#a80003"]WHAT'S NEXT[/color][/b] Now that we finally have this up and running, we will be working on bug fixes as well as introducing features. We will send out bi-weekly updates so you know what's available. We ask that you understand that this is only a beta version of the site and you will most likely experience bugs or issues. However, we have added a Bug Report/Feedback tab so you can report them and we can get them fixed quickly. Finding Connections - Do the majority of swingers wait to be approached? - For context, I'm the male of the couple and have been on a single male profile for most of my time on this site. I don't think I've ever actually met anyone for the first time from this website. I send out the occasional email, and I get approached every once in a while, but nothing ever happens. For me, this was a place to stay connected with the people that I met in person, at parties and events and things like that. It has been a much more effective tool for that than for meeting people. But like I said, I was a single male profile for a very long time. Now that we're on an account together, we might have more luck meeting other couples on here. We'll have to wait and see. As for being approached... it varies. If it's someone I'm not interested in, I do usually try to reply and let them know that it's not going to work for whatever reason. I don't do that as often for single males, because I've had some bad experiences with them harassing me afterwards, but for couples I personally try to reply. Not everybody does, and I imagine that for some people who get lots of requests it would become time-consuming to reply to everyone.
