I need a room! - Do you have a room for rent? - Off subject, just a bit, but has anyone every considered renting a room out to swingers on a month by month basis, as a play room? The renters would not be there all the time, just when they have a hook-up. So the landlord would not have to share their home 24/7/365. When their renters are there they might make a bit of noise and such, but hey that might be interesting and a side benefit. Friendship vs. spontaneity? - Are you here to make friends or just to fuck? - The perception of this lifestyle is that there is a whole lot of sex going on between everyone. Maybe if you are young slim and trim and willing to go to bed with everyone at the drop of a hat that is true. But that pretty much describes the young anyway. If that is your perception of all swingers, and you are here in Utah, then you are bound to be disappointed.
I think that this question comes up a lot because it is not a simple question for many of us and it seems to be posted by those seeking friends first. The end goal may be sex. But if that is your only goal then why do you say you are seeking friends. Friendships are not made in 30 seconds or a drink over at the pub. If that is what makes friendships in your mind then you are really just here for sex.
For us it is finding friends. Some folks that we meet we will play with and some we will be just friends with. It really boils down to a 4 way vote when it comes to the bedroom and maybe even being friends in the first place. And that is what makes finding friends and bedroom partners difficult. There is always the added fear of rejection that gets in the way when you want to anything anyone.
I look at all the complaints of one-nighters and couples that never speak again after sex. I can only surmise that for those folks sex is the only yard stick of friendship. You do not have to be sexually compatible to be friends.
We have found that if what you are looking for is friends, then it is easy to be part of the lifestyle. If what you are looking for is based on having sex then it is easy to be disappointed and difficult to be part of the lifestyle.
Furthermore we look at those that just want to screw and think how lonely their existence must be.

If they already made a conscious decision to be swingers and they are a bit tipsy then maybe but not if they are one or two sheets to the wind even if they are swingers. There are a few couples we have met where one half is always obviously good and drunk whenever you see them at a meet and greet. We find that disconcerting. There are a lot of supposed vanillas, that belong to no sex sites, that once comfortable and friendly with you and once there is some understanding that we are all open minded adults, will admit that there was that one time with some good friends on vacation that they did a little swapping. So it depends really! There are people including couples that are actually open minded enough to have consensual sex with other people on occasion that just are not as on the prowl as we all may be. So it depends.
We like to cruise all the couples hangouts where there is no alcohol involved looking for monogamous sorts that have never ever even considered swinging. Consequently we have been banned from ever going into the Maggie Moos in Sugar House and the nearby dollar movies will no longer let us in if we show up in trench coats.

Black Ring, Right Hand - How to tell if someone's a swinger - OMG! Just had a client walk in and notice my black tungsten wedding ring (I've had one for a couple of years now.) He told me that it I were to wear it on my right hand it would indicate I was gay. I told him I had heard that it indicated other things (didn't elaborate) and he assured me, and I guess he would know since he and his partner have been together over 20 years and finally were allowed to get married last winter, that it meant gay at...least among his friends and acquaintances.
