MSNBC Article on Swingers - actually a positive one :) - http://www.today.msnbc.com/id/25851876/

KSL Sucks - 3 posted comments deleted by editors of forums - Seems to me that they were expected to be open and accepting of this lifestyle choice. Yet, you'd be utterly amazed at the number of "swingers" who proclaim that they are open-minded, and yet attack the lifestyle choices of others in this very lifestyle... Just read the forums. You expected KSL's viewers to be any different?

Why Be In Utah? - -
Actually I've always wondered the same thing about Florida. Substitute the crazy Mormons for the Bibile thumpers from Orlando north into the panhandle, add in the hurricanes, torrential rains, gaters, snakes and mosquitos...besides, I've heard the snow skiing is HORRIBLE there. But I'll bite. 1) No porn. You can buy dirty magazines but (unless you know where to go) hard core x-rate movies are technically illegal to sell. A non-issue in the internet age. If you're still buying dvd's at the local porn emporium you need to maybe update your computer or your media server or something. 2) No real beer. Again a myth. You can only buy 4% (by volume) beer in grocery stores but you can get full strength beer at state liquor stores, restaurants and places like brewery stores. Try getting ANYTHING to drink in some dry towns/counties in the Bible Belt. 3) True to some extent, although Salt Lake City itself is VERY eclectic and quite liberal politically. But at least our LDS lawmakers know basic female anatomy and have somewhat of a grasp of proven basic science. No kooky evangelicals freaking out every time someone mentions birth control or evolution. 4) Most people are afraid of Mormons? Really? I've heard they have horns and the missionaries CAN be a little annoying when you're fucking and they're ringing the doorbell but I don't think people are truly afraid. Besides, contrary to popular belief the swing scene here is alive, active and vibrant. I'd wager that per capita we have more, and more active, swingers than just about any place you can name. All that repressed Mormon sexuality eventually bubbles to the surface and until you've fucked a formerly repressed little Mormon girl who's discovering her sexuality you, my friend, haven't fucked! :-)
EVILDOERS summed it up nicely. I would also add that the cost of living is lower than most "cool" places in the country. Also, the people here seem to be much more attractive than in most states(it probably has something to do with the water). No matter where you live there will be good and bad qualities, but overall the good outweighs the bad in Utah. It's just what you make of it.

Swinger Friendly Businesses - Business or services friendly to swingers - I run a mattress (adult recreation equipment) store and have and do give swinger discounts. (Insert joke here) I always find it funny when someone we met at a party or from our friend list shows up at the store.

Polyamory - Any thoughts on an exclusive 3 or more partner relationship? - This is like kissing to me.... Don't love anyone you have sex with except your SO... Well I am in a poly relationship with a married woman. Her husband is not poly and my wife is not poly. The 4 of us are good friends and both my wife and her husband know that the relationship is not platonic, far from it. They do not swing but we met at a swingers social. They were looking into the lifestyle but did not decide to go that way... We started talking on the internet.. they live a little less than 30 miles away. She and I had discovered that we loved each other from the several meetings and talking and I stopped by one afternoon, sat down and told her husband how I felt and she told him also. Understand we both understand that it is a secondary relationship and neither of us wants to leave our respective mates... We have discussed what ifs like; What if something happens to one of our mates? What if one of our mates starts to have problems with our relationship? We try to discreetly meet when we are each free and our mates are not around... This to alleviate any stress to our primary relationships... We do get together and eat and watch TV, play games, dance...Everything is open above board and consensual. Many people who are coming into the lifestyle, over the age of 40 and empty nesters have things in their profiles like; "looking for one or two couples for fun both in and out of the bedroom. Would like to find a couple or two to play with on a regular basis..." The implication is that they want a relationship that is closed...i.e., safe, secure and on a regular basis... To me that looks suspiciously like poly relationships. B and I need to find a place in MT but it's much much too unpopulated there, too cold and could get lonely....besides B likes her job/s.. Wears so many hats it isn't funny. All in all we do get to get out and go to parties/socials almost every weekend, if we want. Something to be said for populated areas even if super people live so far away...

Here's something Ive been curious about - - I must say that I agree couples are the swingers and singles are enjoying the lifestyle because, one, I know plenty of technical vanilla singles that have had threesomes and they don't call themselves swingers. 2, I believe swinging is for those who do bring something to the table other than themselves.. because you're swinging to something new and different than your significant other. Singles are apart of the lifestyle community but what's the difference between meeting others that you already know want to do this compared to just stumbling upon it at a vanilla party.. there is nothing wrong with not being called a swinger. So no I dont think singles are "swingers" but if they want to call themselves that I have no frets about it. It's whatever to get the point across that you want some extra fun too!

Curious Question - - Mogar, You have just described the lifestyle as it should be and is in many parts of the country... not just UT. It does seem, however, that the people on this site, particularly from UT are very very sexy. There must be someting in the water or that mormons are particularly good looking people... Might have to do with the survival of the fittest.... A long and perilous journey out there and then setting up and getting things started in the wilderness... Only the best genes survive, I guess. Hat off to UT... Sexy women.. I think that many areas, besides UT, are very hot beds of swinging activity.. OHIO, NC, WV, PA is comming out as a hot area.. FL and there are several areas of concentration in FL...Different areas of NY state all seem to have large contingents of swingers... From all of the activity that we see thru various sites, it would seem that swinging is on the rise everywhere.

Two For Two Does Not Add Up To Three - Sorry got out of bed on wrong side - Can I just add to this. I am so sick of all these people that say they are swingers and have "just want to have fun" on their profile and then you get to know them and they tell you "Well, the female half doesn't like to play with other males until she gets to know them". Well, I got so sick of all the mfemale halves of the couple that we were supposed to text and get to know like 2000 times before there was a chance in hell we could all play together........... If ever? This site is "SWINGular"! For swingers! Not couples looking for another woman to add to the mix!!! I mean, I am all for getting to know ppl, but seriously! I am on here for sex!!! Not lifelong friends!

Question - do you talk about other swingers? - Smoke.... It's a fine line, being discreet and wanting to share bad experiences. I think you hit the nail on the head with your 'share with friends' comment. I have a few couples that I spend time with who 'look out for me'. They know that I see single guys and are pretty frank with me when they have a bad experience. In fact, recently, I got an IM from one of them that started, "in your ongoing quest to find the ultimate single man, AVOID _______ at all costs" It was pretty funny. I appreciate these people who look out for me...... you know who you are !!! Better to share the great experiences eh? Enjoy! -Te

First time stories, wanna share? - - Our first experience wasn't so great. There was mis-communcation, and it was fairly awkward. Actually, when my wife and I left the hotel in the morning, we decided swinging wasn't for us. A few days later we decided not to let one experience be the final judgment. We joined Swingular and started talking to a couple that contacted us. My wife and I were a bit worried by their much higher experience level, but than we decided maybe that would be better. We were right. They were nice and respectful and did a great job of making us feel comfortable, and we ended up having a really fun night with them. I think being with experienced swingers allowed us to just be ourselves and only have to concentrate on our own boundaries. If we had been with another newer couple, we'd all have to worry about going to far. We had a good enough night that we have kept in contact with them and continued to slowly check out the lifestyle. We're still Soft Swap, and full swing couples have been really gracious to us, letting us join them and get a better idea of the lifestyle, and letting us get our feet wet, before diving in to the deep end. :) We've had no bad experiences, but some could have been better if we had communicated on our end better. We're still learning how to do that. Overall, these early experiences have been a lot of fun, and we're finding that easing into the lifestyle isn't as rocky as we feared. It's been a fun journey so far.
