How to get started? - - We would recommend to find someone interesting to you, write and meet. We have found, and this is not scientific, but it is our experience, that if they do not want to meet for drinks or coffee after an email or two, they are not really interested but do not know how to say as such. This is not to say that you should meet and jump into the bed, but meeting is key. We have found very few people who are what their pics and profile say, us included, we hear many times, "Boy glad we took a chance, you should get better pics" and such. The night before, I was talking to my platoon...talking about the possibilities of the next morning when the march/protest...hoping that I might prepare them for the verbal abuse they were sure to endure, we talked about it and how to react...my platoon sergeant (who happened to be black) asked me "So sir...are you saying they might call me Nigger?" Of course, it was said tongue in cheek...he KNEW that is what we were talking about...knew it was going to happen...and simply put us all at ease by just saying it and getting it out in the open...his response was so true: "Sir, those are just words and I really feel sorry for those people who have so much anger and hate in them that their only outlet is such an ignorant display - if they were really capable of expressing themselves intelligently they wouldn't have to resort to that - when I remember that, I realize just how much I feel sorry for them...and it's hard to get mad at someone you pity" - plus, I'm a soldier and I have sworn to protect their right to call me a Nigger"... At that, everyone in the room laughed quite loudly...my platoon sergeant was quite the philosopher if you ask me... Sometime back those rubbery wrist bands like "Live Strong" use were supposed to be a way to identify swingers but there were all these categories and colors and we think it failed because it was just too complicated. Wearing a black ring on your right hand, on any finger other than your middle finger, is simple enough. Not mandating it be a particular ring but just a black ring and no further rules, in our opinion will help the trend to spread. It does seem to be spreading. We are both over 50, and so far Mrs. Delicious has not yet had anyone mention her ring, but as of today I have been approached on four different occasions all of which were recent. My work related social circles are much larger and more gregarious, and more liberal, which may explain why I have been approached and she has not. We go there every now and again and we really like it. Overt public sexual activity would seem really out of place there, and it is too small to be a swingers event venue. In our experience, the clientele are mostly locals that live nearby, like we do, guest staying at the hotel next door, which are often out of town business people, conference attendees and or skiers during the winter. In our opinion, monogamy, in the classical sense, is in a gradual and consistent decline. Open and relaxed non-monogamy, as a possibility, but not really a driven hunt, but something okay, when it just seems right, is on the rise and happens. So as for takeovers, well yeah you can find people participating in the non-monogamy takeover there, but not really a swingers venue. Non-monogamy happens with couples that do not self identify as "swingers", when it just seems right. Can you meet people at Elixir and end up having sex with them? Yes you can. Yeah the hotel nearby is convenient. Elixir is not the sort of place where people ever show up ready to recite some sort of swingers pledge or ask you what's your profile name. It's not, and maybe should not be the kind of place, where you are at a table with some friends you either came there with, or just met while you were there and have somebody come up to your table and address you by your profile name and start asking what kind of sex you are into.
