Psychology Research Results - This is a follow up to my earlier post. This is what I found because some showed interest. - I would like to thank everyone who did the research survey for me. I hypothesized that non swingers would view us as more capable of deviant behavior like using drugs and alcohol in large amounts. I was correct. I hypothesized that swingers were more likely to use positive methods to handle relationship conflicts and I was also correct. I also hypothesized that swingers would have high openness to new things and high extroversion. We did find that swingers were more open to new experience but there wasn't enough on the other. Something we found interesting was that non swingers used more aggressive methods to solve relationship conflicts and they had high sexual depression. My teacher is talking about possibly working on this to get it published. I am beyond happy that I can show us in a better and more recent light. Thank you all for your help. Not that it means much of anything, but this is why I always took exception (with few very dedicated and very successful and very happy exceptions) to people calling this a "lifestyle". Most of the swingers I've met would honestly lose their shit if they made this a big priority. Most of the ones I knew that did so, did lose their shit. And much more.
What really defines a TRUE swinger? - - My definition of "Swingers" is a couple in which both partners have agreed to allow the other to have an intimate relationship with another person. There are lots of situations that fit that description and lots of emotional states that occur as a result of swinging but that description works for me. So as a single male I don't think of myself as swinger but as someone who enjoys hanging out with swingers!

In my humble opinion, even the mormon church has a place in heaven for all of us swingers. The rank and file members may think and treat us differently, but in the end there is a place for all. It is impossible to reconcile the teachings of any religion with the swinger lifestyle, and we each have to make our own peace with that.

Swinging ,Or cheating? - - Swinging is having sex with people who are not your legal spouses. By definition, having sex with someone who is not your legal spouse is cheating. Therefore all swingers are cheaters, whether or not the spouse knows it. Now, throw that out the window, and label everyone who swings, as cheaters, but ONLY if their spouse does not participate. Don\'t bother to find out if he or she knows, approves, or even suggested it themselves.
Having said that, I am still totally amazed that there are so many narrow-minded folks in this lifestyle. Yes, I completely agree that EVERYONE should know what is going on. I completely DISAGREE that those who play without their spouse\'s participation are automatically defiend as cheaters.
I cannot speak for anyone else, but the fact remains, I don\'t do a thing without my spouse knowing about it. That includes participation in video chat (which she comes to very frequently, just ask anyone who is a regular), e-mailing or chatting with others, meeting, hanging out, or even adult play. If people bothered to get to know me, they would know that. But they knee-jerk and completely eliminate great people like me from their lives, just because they didn\'t bother to look before their leap to label.
If they want to shut me out because I am married and my wife doesn\'t participate, they should go ahead and exercise their right to do so. It doesn\'t bother me a bit. They are perfectly entitled to do so, and I applaud them for that choice.
But they are not allowed to jump to the conclusion that I am \"cheating\" because she doesn\'t play. That\'s grade-school-playground namecalling, slanderous, and beyond immature.
If you don\'t know the circumstances, then you don\'t have the right to go around labeling everyone else. Whoever you are.
